Cavity Wall Insulation

Cavity insulation is a layer of insulation which is pumped into the cavity of your walls and acts as a barrier. Preventing heat from escaping. Which leads to a more comfortable home and lower heating bills.

Installation Process

How it Works

  • 1

    Milestone 1

A series of small holes are bored into the external walls of your home.

  • Milestone 2

Cavity barriers are installed to prevent the fill entering cavities of adjacent properties.

    2
  • 3

    Milestone 3

Air vents are sleeved (protected inside the wall).

  • Milestone 4

ECOBEAD insulation and an adhesive is pumped into the cavity.

    4
  • 5

    Milestone 5

Injection holes are filled with a colour matched mortar or render.

  • Milestone 6

A qualified Churchfield auditor conduts an audit to ensure the Cavity Wall Insulation mets the required NSAI standard.

The Most Common Wall Types

Cavity Wall

Cavity walls are built using 2 layers of bricks and/or blocks leaving a gap (cavity) in-between. A cavity is typically 50-60mm wide. On an existing build, we insulate the cavity using ECOBEAD spray foam insulation. As it has excellent thermal properties (not all Cavity Wall Insulation materials are created equal).

Solid Brick Wall

Solid block walls, as the name implies, are made of brick or stone and have no gap in between layers. This type of wall cannot be pumped with cavity insulation and require either internal or external wall insulation to reach the desired heat retention.

Hollow Brick Wall

Hollow blocks are blocks with gaps/hollows in the middle. This type of wall cannot be pumped with cavity insulation. As with a Solid Wall, it will require either internal or external wall insulation to reach the desired heat retention.
